Sharks in the Brazos

I saw sharks in the Brazos, and...okay, so they were just on the bank of the Brazos...and they were already dead...and...okay...they were only 1.5 feet long, but they were still sharks, and I reported it to Texas Parks and Wildlife, and got to create a sensation in their office, and the Game Warden (or somebody like it) called me, and I got to tell him my shark story, and we figure someone dumped them there, and I hope they get caught!

  1. Sharks? in the Brazos? come on .... Next thing you know, there'll be dinosaurs in Glen Rose again.

  2. I smell a scandle brewing! You should write up a story for the Waco Trib!

  3. Just how close were you to these sharks? I mean, I'm not sure that you could recognize a 1.5 foot shark from the highway.

  4. I wasn't on the highway. I was looking around Island Condos Apartments for a lost kitten. The apt. complex is surrounded by water from the Brazos, and a ring of brush separates the Brazos and the parking lot. I was looking over the railing of the parking lot, into the brush, when I saw them. They were right in front of me, about 3 feet down, I would guess. (The pkg. lot is raised to serve as a levy.)

  5. Did you find the kitten? Maybe she was eaten by the shark...

  6. No, no sign of the kitten. :( But she'd already been gone a week, so I wasn't too hopeful. I thought about the shark, but I really think they were dumped there dead.

  7. I just realized that this post is all one sentence. Whoa, there, take a breath!

  8. That was a literary choice--to convey my excitement. :) I'm working on another post that's got lots of literary choices, for sentences, sentence fragments, one-word phrases...sort of Emily Dickinson-ish. I'll probably have it ready pretty soon.

  9. Dude! My hubby used to live at the Island and once when I was visiting him we saw a GIANT BULL that had escaped from the meat packing plant up river and swum down the Brazos and was then ambling around the Island complex like it belonged there when suddenly the Animal Control people showed up with tranquilizer guns and went to shoot it but first they had to get it away from the water because if it went limp and went into the water it would have drowned and then how could you get a one-ton bull out of the water?

Sharks and bulls.... I think it's way past time to get the Brazos cleaned up!
