How do you eat M&Ms?

I've noticed that most people have specific ways they eat M&Ms. For example, I grab a handful of M&Ms, sort them out by color and place them in a long line. The colors form a symmetrical pattern, like a palindrome. So a line of red, blue, orange, blue, red would be a nice line (but way too few!). Then, after organizing my M&Ms such, I eat them one at a time, crunching off the candy coating first, then eating the chocolatey goodness.

So now you know! How do YOU eat M&Ms?

  1. I have to eat M&Ms in pairs, or even better in sets of four. They need to be coordinating colors, so that as I put 2 into my mouth they are both the same color. Or, if in sets of four, they could be two sets of 2 colors. No odds are allowed. Also, each side of my mouth gets half of the candies per bite.

To recap - 2 or 4 M&Ms at a time, must be like colors, and half go on each side of the mouth.

Not at all sure where this strangeness comes from.

  2. I like to chip the shell off with my teeth, and then eat the chocolate part by itself.

I'm not that picky about the order that they go into my mouth.

  3. Hmmm... I eat my M&Ms by the handful, chomping on the whole thing at once... any given color or number combination. I usually grab a handful and just casually munch on those. They do, however, melt in my hand sometimes.

But I do the color thing with skittles! I separate them into colors. I don't put them in a line, but I eat one of each color at a time, so that the numbers of skittles in each color are even in my hand (so I start by eating all the odd ones first and then following my nice neat pattern).

  4. Yeah, I have to eat the odd M&Ms first, too. :) But Skittles, I just eat. One at a time, though, because I don't want to mix flavors.

  5. I eat them in pairs. Usually it doesnt matter what color, but sometimes they have to be the same color. Isn't it interesting how the human mind works! Does the way one eats m&ms say anything about them subconsciously?

  6. I chew them and swallow them fast enough to take another handful before someone sees me chugging m&m's.

  7. First - What the heck is a palindrome?

Second - I don't think I have a system to eat M&M's. Which is weird...because I have a system for lots of things like that. Lately I have been biting them in half. But that was just because I was bored and it sounded fun.

  8. In college I used to have M&M wars. I'd take 2 and push them together (flat sides). The first one to crack was the loser. I'd eat the losers. After all the M&Ms went through one round of battle, they entered the semifinals. If they both cracked, I ate them both. You'd think that the supreme ultimate strongest winner M&M would get a prize. But, it got eaten, too.

Now I savor them one by one. They have them over here, but they're really expensive. So, when I get them I take my time. My all-time fave is peanut butter M&Ms. I suck on those for awhile first.

P.S. to Cliff: A palindrome is a word, phrase, or set of numbers that's the same forward and backward. So, words like rotator, redder, and solos all work. So do phrases like "Doc, note: I dissent. A fast never prevents a fatness. I diet on cod." or (one I'm sure you'll like) "Butt raft fart tub." Search for palindrome phrases online and you can find more.

  9. I eat them in twos or three, preferably not with the same colors. Then I suck off the candy shell and then let the chocolate melt! MMmmmm!

Mab - I am also a lover of the peanut butter m&ms. I crunch the shells and just let them melt! And these you can eat one at a time because they are bigger!

  10. Have y'all had the big M&Ms? They first showed up with Shrek 2, I think. They're plain M&Ms, but they're twice the size. So fun!

  11. I like almond m&ms.

I think MAB likes to make her food fight. She did the same thing with peeps!

  12. @KarenD: Apparently I do have an obsession with food fighting. Perhaps it's my way of expressing repressed rage. Hmmm...
